선계에 같이 가십시다 문화영   우연히 산사(山寺)를 찾았을 때, 풍경 소리를 듣고 잠이 깨어 일어나 신자도 아니면서 아무도 없는 법당에서 수없이 절을 하였던 기억이 납니다. 소원을 빈 것은 아니었는데 무언가를 그리워하며 그랬던 것 같습니다. 어려서부터 저는 알 수 없는 서러움에 잘 울고, 하늘의 구름처럼 둥둥 떠다니며 외로워하고, 또 무언가를 그리워했습니다. 그 서러움, 외로움, 그리움이 어딘가에 전달되어 단전호흡을 알게 된 것 같습니다.   처음 기운을 느끼고 온 몸에 기운이 쫙 돌았을 때, 저는 마치 축복을 받은 것처럼 기뻐했던 기억이 납니다. 단전호흡은 제가 이 세상에 태어나서 한 행동 중 가장 재미있는 것이었습니다. 그 재미에 이끌리어 하루 종일 시간을 만들어 숨쉬기에 몰두했던 것입니다.   알 수 없는 기운에 이끌리어 수선재까지 오시게 된 분들은 저처럼 서러움, 외로움, 그리움에 익숙해있는 분들이라고 여겨집니다. 수련을 하면서 우시는 분을 보지는 못했지만 아마 혼자 수련하실 때는 가끔 눈물을 찍어내실 것입니다. 그리고 온몸으로 흠뻑 기운을 느끼실 때는 어딘가에서 오는 축복을 느끼며 이 풍진 세상을 잠시나마 살아갈 맛이 나실 것입니다.   저는 수선재 식구들이 수련하실 때, 그 모습에서 서러움, 외로움, 그리움을 만납니다. 그래서 반가움을 느낍니다. 그런 감정들은 우리가 찾아가야 할 본성의 언어이기 때문입니다. 저를 만나면서 반가움을 느끼신다면 그 이유는 제가 여러분들이 종래에 돌아가실 본향(본성의 고향)에서 온 손님이기 때문일 것입니다.   저도 여러분들을 만날 때는 고향분들을 만난 것처럼 반갑습니다. 그리고 앞으로도 고향에 돌아가 영원히 만나고 싶습니다. 본향에서 친구들을 만나는 재미에 지구에서의 한 생(生)이 그리워 다시 태어나는 시행착오를 겪지 않게 되기를 바랍니다. 이제까지의 생은 고난에 가까웠으니까요.   수없이 많은 생을 돌고 돌아 여기까지 오신 분들이 자칫 저를 보시고 실망하여, 친구들을 보고 실망하여, 실족하지 않기를 간절히 바랍니다. 저는 여러분들이 처음 수선재를 찾아 오셨을 때, 각자의 본성이 뛸 듯이 반가워하는 모습을 보았습니다.   그리고 여러분들의 보호령께서 자신들의 소임을 다했다며 한시름 놓는 것을 보았습니다. 본향에 계신 여러분들의 조상님들께서 마치 후손들이 영생을 판가름하는 ‘과거 시험장’ 에 들어가 있을 때처럼 긴장하는 모습을 보았습니다.   저는 선계에 가는 길은 눈감고도 찾을 수 있으며, 못난 안내자들을 많이 보아왔기 때문에 저렇게는 안되겠다고 이를 악문 적이 많았으며, 또 선계의 지엄한 꾸지람이 가끔 계실 것이기에 수선재 식구들에게 감히 저와 함께 선계에 가시자고 부탁드립니다. 선계에 같이 가십시다!!!

선계에 가고 싶다   나는 길눈이 어둡다. 지하도에서 나오면 방향을 잘 잊으며 목적지를 눈앞에 두고도 보지 못한다. 이런 습성이 인생의 길을 찾아가는 노정에서도 나타났다. 삼십이 넘어서야 기(氣)를 알고 도(道)의 바다로 향하는 뱃길을 보았다. 사십이 넘어서야 문학이라는 나룻배를 만들고 배를 젓기 시작했다. 올해가 기를 알게 된지 만 십 년이 되는 해이다. 오르던 길을 중지하고 내리막길에 들어서면서 나는 비로소 인간이 느낄 수 있는 여러 색깔의 감정을 경험하였고 좀 겸손해졌다. 예를 들자면 짝사랑이라든가, 좌절이라든가, 소외감 같은 것들을 말이다. 인생은 고해(苦海)였다. 몇 번이고 자살을 생각했다. 객관적으로 보면 그리 나쁘지 않은 상황이었지만 내 마음은 왜 그렇게 힘들고 외로웠는지 모른다. 공부하면서 제일 힘들었던 일은 외로움을 견디는 것이었다. 약 천 일간 금촉(禁觸) 수련을 했는데 이 기간 동안 거의 모든 만남을 끊고 오로지 숨만 쉬었다. 최소한의 살림만 했다. 친구들은 하나둘 다 떠나갔다. 도무지 사람 구실을 하지 않으니 누군들 좋아했겠는가. 힘들 때마다 나는 단군신화를 생각했다. 그것이 힘이 되어 곰녀의 한 사람인 나는 드디어 최소한의 과정을 이수하게 되었다. 십년전같이 공부를 시작했던 도반들이 거의 남아있지 않다. 대부분이 도중하차했고 몇 사람만이 각자의 영역에서 일을 찾아 하고 있다. 공부란 끝이 없기 때문에 팔자 좋게 숨만 쉬면서 살수는 없는 노릇이다. 또한 세상을 등진 공부는 반쪽이고 더불어 사는 일에 성공할 때 완성된다는 것이 나의 생각이다. 나는 단지 나 자신에 도달하기 위해서 책을 쓰는 일을 시작했음을 고백한다. 이 글을 통해서 친구들을 만나고 싶고 껍질이 수없이 벗겨지기를 원한다. 혼자 공부하는 것을 테니스 운동으로 말하자면 백보드를 상대로 혼자 공연습을 하는 것과 같다. 이제 나는 선수들과 공을 치고 싶다. 깨달음으로 향하는 수도(修道)의 과정에 동참할 동반자를 구한다. 남녀노소 누구나 환영한다. 특히 살고 싶지 않거나 우울하거나 누군가를 죽도록 미워하는 마음의 병을 앓고 계신 분들은 이 글을 통해서 아마도 동병상련의 좋은 친구를 만나게 될 것이다. 신비의 세계를 동경하는 분들은 보이지 않는 세계에 대한 정보를 같이 나누게 될 것이다.  "선계에 가고 싶다" 책에서 

“지구야! 미안해” 캠페인  지구를 살리는 7가지 작은 실천 1. 자신에게 그리고 마주치는 사람과 자연에게 다정한 인사를 전하세요. 곁에 있는 분에게 맑고, 밝고 따뜻한 인사를 전함으로서 행복한 파장을 늘리세요. 행복한 사람 곁에 있는 것만으로도 벌써 기분이 좋아지지 않나요? 당신의 밝은 인사를 통해 세상을 가볍게 만들 수 있다면 온 세상은 가벼워지는 기적을 알게 될 것입니다. 2. 육식을 즐기지 마세요. 채식을 통해 우리는 비 인간적인 사육방식을 통한 동물들의 아픔을 줄일 수 있을 뿐 아니라 환경파괴도 막을 수 있답니다. 동물에게 먹이는 대량의 곡물사료는 굶고 있는 이들에게 곡식이 됩니다. 3. 자신이 먹을 채소를 직접 재배해 보세요. 도시에서도 발코니나 지붕에서 야채를 기를 수 있습니다. 도시농업이라고 부른답니다. 직접 기르는 야채는 영양분도 풍부하며 맛도 더 있습니다. 4. 가까운 거리는 즐겨 걸으세요. 걸으면서 이웃과 따뜻한 인사를 건네며 나무, 꽃, 잎새, 자연들과 대화를 해보세요. 햇볕아래 걸으면 우울함도 없어진답니다. 5. 쓰레기를 줄이고 가급적 집 밖으로 내보내지 않도록 하세요. 물건을 사시면 오랫동안 사용하도록 하세요. 그 물건을 만들기 위해서 그리고 버려지는 모든 쓰레기들로 우리는 자연에게 대단한 해를 끼치고 있답니다. 6. 작은 집에 살며, 물과 전기를 아껴 쓰세요. 큰 집은 자연에게 방해가 될 뿐만 아니라 절약 면에서도 적절하지가 않습니다. 전기제품을 최소로 사용하고 단순하게 살아갑니다. 7. 고통 받는 지구가족을 돕고 그들을 위해 기도하세요. 인생에서 고통 받고 있는 이들의 큰 아픔을 가슴을 열고 나눕니다. 왜 그런지 이유도 모르고 격어야 되는 불행은 모든 인간의 슬픔입니다. 사람, 자연, 하늘을 알고 사랑합니다. “지구야! 미안해” 캠페인은 “단순하게 하지만 관대한 마음으로 살자”라는 명제에서 시작되었습니다. 이 운동은 인간, 자연 그리고 하늘과 다 따로따로 살고 있는 지구의 사람들에게 균형을 잡아드리기 위해서 자발적으로 시작되었습니다. 이러한 자연과의 대화를 통해서 지구가 파괴되는 것을 막고 사람들을 각성시키기 위하여 저희는 많은 캠페인을 시도하고 있습니다. 그리고 저희는 유기 농법을 실행하고 생태 마을을 만들어 지속 가능한 삶을 살아갈 수 있도록 행동으로 옮기고 있습니다. 나이, 성별 그리고 국가에 상관없이 누구나 환영합니다. 수선재 명상학교

Listen to the Hope from the Wind   최근 러시아에서는 극심한 폭염과 가뭄이, 파키스탄에서는 폭우가 일어나 인명피해와 함께 곡물 부족사태를 가져왔습니다. 또한 중국에서는 비로 인한 산사태가, 그린란드에서는 거대빙하의 분열이 일어났습니다. 올해 북반구 여름은 130년 만에 가장 더웠다고 합니다. 갑작스럽게 나타나는 지구의 기후이상은 어떤 이유입니까? Lately we saw extreme heat waves and drought in Russia, and we saw torrential storms rain down on Pakistan, which led to loss of life together with a shortage of grains. They throw away all kinds of junk, airplanes, even nuclear submarines between ocean valleys in deep places. 핵폐기물을 버릴 때는 드럼통에 넣어 버리는데 바다에는 쇠를 분해하는 박테리아가 살고 있습니다. 드럼통이 구멍이 나서 방사능물질이 흘러나와 그곳에 사는 어류들의 방사선 수치가 보통의 200 배 이상입니다. 그냥 투기하는 겁니다. 양심이 없어요. When they throw away nuclear waste, they put it into a drum container, but there is bacteria that breaks down metals in the sea. It makes holes on the drum container and radioactive matter flows out.    정 2품 소나무의 통곡 어제 정 2품 소나무(천연기념물 103호)를 찾아가 보았습니다. 카메라를 배낭에 넣은 채로. 흐려진 날씨에 빗방울이 하나, 둘 떨어집니다. 관광객 몇은 소나무를 배경으로 사진을 찍고 구경하고 있었습니다. 소나무를 보자마자 먹먹해졌습니다. 카메라를 들고 온 자신이 부끄러웠습니다.     -안녕하신지요.. 보은에 살고 있는 최경아라고 합니다. 그런데 가슴이 먹먹해져서 아무 말도 떠오르지 않습니다. =어떠신가요... 이곳은 저의 거대한 무덤입니다. 사람들은 무덤앞에 떡 하니 기념비라는 명목의 비석을 세우고 자기네끼리 기념촬영을 합니다. 보시다시피 전 여러 개의 지지대로 겨우 모양새를 유지하고 있을 뿐 철창속에 갇힌 죄인처럼 생명력을 잃고 그냥 모진세월을 견딜 뿐입니다. 무수한 시간을, 기나긴 고통을, 온갖 시달림과 괴로움을 감내하며... 저의 슬픔을 아시겠는지요..     -가슴이 아려서 아무 말도 드릴 수 없습니다.   =인간이 자연에게 어떻게 하고 있는지요? 제설작용을 하고 지지대로 받쳐주고 수액을 맞춰가며 저를 기념하고 있습니다. 저에게 이상한 벼슬을 떡 하니 내려놓고 저를 바라보며 건강하기를 바란다고들 합니다. 저는 그들에게 하나의 관광상품일 뿐입니다. 관광객을 끌어들이고 기념사진을 찍기 위한 배경 외엔 더 무엇이겠는지요? 저를 기린다고 전설을 만들어내고 마치 영험한 나무가 이곳을 지켜준다는 듯 자신들만의 착각에 빠져 있습니다. 인간은 우리가 진정 무엇을 원하는지 짐작조차 하지 못합니다. 아니, 알려고도 하지 않습니다. 자신들의 사상누각속에 우리를 끼워맞추고 있지요.   저의 모습이 자연스러운가요? 아름다운가요? 기념이 될 만 한가요? 기념이지요. 인간들이 저를 위한답시고 이렇게 만들고 기념하고 있습니다.     -죄송합니다. 계속 사진을 찍고 있는대도 제가 말릴 수가 없네요. 미안합니다. 지켜주지 못해서 미안합니다.   =그냥 저와 같이 울어주십시오...     참회의 눈물이 가슴 밑바닥부터 흘러나왔습니다..   =인간은 진정한 아름다움이 뭔지 모릅니다. 그들의 눈은 물질로 오염되어 있으며 어떻게 하면 자기에게 이로울까에 대해 혈안이 되어 있으며 서로를 헐뜯고 미워합니다. 인간은 하늘을 본지 너무 오래되었으며 자연과 숨쉬는 방법도 깡그리 망각하였으며 자기자신이 누구인지 알려고 하지 않습니다. 오직 몸이 만족하는 것, 말초적인 본능을 추구하며 자연의 섭리, 우주의 섭리를 까마득히 잊고 그냥그냥 살아갑니다.   입이 좋아하는 것, 손이 좋아하는 것, 몸이 끌리는대로 움직이고 있습니다. 그러한 인간의 행태가 현재의 저의 모습으로 드러났으며 자신들이 좋을대로 저를 취급하고 있습니다. 제가 울고 있는지, 화내고 있는지, 그 어떤 표정도 알려고 하지 않는 채로.     -제가 어떻게 도움을 드릴 수 있는지요? =함께 울어주셔서 가슴이 따뜻해졌습니다.     -지금 해드릴 수 있는 것이 없을까요?   =저를 바라보시고 저의 모습을 기억하셔서 다시는 이런 일이 일어나지 않도록 세상에 알려주십시오. 저희가 원하는 것을 인간이 알 수 있도록 전해주십시오. 인간만을 위한 자연이 아닌, 자연을 위한 자연으로 되돌려 주십시오. 그러면 저의 한이 풀릴 것입니다.   저는 천재지변을 기다립니다. 땅이 갈라지고 그 안으로 들어가 잠시 위로와 안식의 시간을 가진 후 인적이 없는 깊은 산 속 소나무로 다시 태어나고 싶습니다. 인간을 미워하지 않게 해주세요. 인간의 시달림에 지쳤습니다. 제가 소멸되기 전에 그들을 이해할 수 있게 해주세요.     -진정 참회합니다. 제가 대신 사죄를 드려도 될까요? 받아주세요..   =그렇다면 저를 가끔 찾아와 주세요. 마음이 아플 때, 속상할 때 오셔서 저의 친구가 되어 주세요. 같이 울어주세요. 저는 움직일 수 없으니...     -네, 그럴께요. 비가 내리기 시작합니다.   =빗속에서 하염없이 울면 마음이 위로가 됩니다. 빗물만이 저의 아픔을 알아주니까요.   저도 행복하고 싶습니다. 저도 자유를 누리고 싶습니다. 아버지 같은 따뜻한 햇볕과 어머니같은 땅의 격려와 지지, 반가운 친구인 빗물과 우리의 자유로움을 대변해주는 바람... 새 한 마리의 위로와 벌레와 곤충들의 장난스러움과 사람의 미소, 반가운 눈 인사라면...   우린 바라는 게 없습니다. 그것이 행복이지요. 우리의 행복을 지켜주세요. 적어도 당신만이라도 우리의 행복을 기억해주세요..     너나 할 것 없이 카메라로 사진을 찍어대고 있습니다. 그들은 카메라에 찍힌 웃고 있는 자신의 모습을 보며 무엇을 기억하고자 하는 것일까요.. 흐느끼고  있는 소나무는 보지 못한 채로...   소나무의 외로움이 잊혀지지 않습니다. 

지구의 대자연에게 듣다 Listen to Great Nature of the Earth 최근의 이상기후조건과 자연재해로 많은 사람들이 죽었습니다. 왜 이러한 일들이 일어나지요? Do to abnormal weather conditions and natural disasters nowadays,  many people were killed.  What are these happening? 이것은 내 몸을 정화하는 방법이다. 인간은 나를 이용하고 학대해 왔으며 너희가 감염이 되거나 감기증상이 있을 때 열이 나서 스스로 몸을 정화시키듯, 나 또한 균형을 잡기 위해 그와 똑같은 방법을 취해야 할 필요가 있다. This is my way of cleansing my body.  Mankind has used and abused me and in the same way that your body will cleanse itself with a good fever when attacked by some infection or by symptoms of flu,  i need to do the exact same thing to keep my balance.  나는 그냥 ‘지구’가 아니라,진화의 과정에 놓인 살아있는 존재이다. 너의 혈액 속에 있는 박테리아가 진화의 과정 중에 있는 것과 마찬가지이다. 보통 그런 박테리아는 너를 하나의 완전한 존재로 인식하지 못하고 오직 자기 자신과 번식에만 관심이 있을 것이다. 지금 이 시점에 지구상의 많은 인간들 또한 그러하다. 오직 자신들에게만 정신이 팔려, 자기 종족의 번식과 생존에만 사로잡혀 살아가는 의식 잃은 존재들인 것이다. I am not "just" the Earth. I am a living being in a process of Evolution,  just same as bacteria in your blood is in its process of evolution. Bacteria is usually not conscious of you as a whole Being, it is only concerned with its' self and its' reproduction.  So it is with many humans on the Earth at this point in time.  They are unconscious beings living their lives and only pre-occupied with themselves  and reproduction/survival of their species. 화가 나지 않으시는지요? Aren't you angry?  박테리아가 네 몸 속에서 제 할 일을 할 때, 너는 그것을 기분 나빠하느냐, 아니면 자신들의 지속적인 진화를 위해서 할 일을 할뿐이라 여기느냐? 각자 자신들의 진화에 바쁠 따름이다. 그러나 모든 행동에는 반작용이 있으며, 모든 원인에는 결과가 있음을 알아야 할 것이다. When bacteria do what they do in your body,  do you take it personally or do you understand that they are simply doing what they do for their continued evolution?  Each one is busy with their own evolution.  But it needs to be understood that to every action, there is a re-action.  And that to every cause there is an effect.  예를 들면 지구의 꼭 알맞은 대기를 위한 이산화탄소의 일정분량이 있을 것이다. 어떤 이유로 인해 이산화탄소의 양이 너무 많고 이것을 운반하는 작용을 하는 나무 등이 너무 적을 경우, 평형이 깨지는 결과가 되어, 이를 바로잡을 필요가 있게 될 것이다. 그것은 자동적으로 일어날 것이며 ‘당연히’ 많은 것들에 영향을 미칠 것이다. 사람들은 마음에 드는 것이면 뭐든 잡아뜯고, 부러뜨리고, 자기 것으로 취하는 아주 어린 아이들과 같다. 너희들은 변해야만 한다. 너희들은 지금 바로 스스로 변해야만 한다. For perfect atmosphere on my planet,  there can only be a certain amount of carbon dioxide for example.  If for some reason, there is an over-abundance of carbon dioxide and too few workers, the Trees, to transform it,  there will be an unbalanced consequence,  and that will need to be re-dressed.  That will happen automatically,  and that happening will affect many-naturally.... Humans are just like children who pull out,  break and take everything they wish to have.  You should change.  You should change yourself, right now! 가까운 미래에 모든 것들이 극적으로 변화하게 될 것이라는 말이 있습니다. 어떻게 생각하시는지요? 견공의 원망을 듣다 Listen to the Grudge of a Dog 어떠십니까? 우리에게 한이 맺히고 하실 말씀이 많으신 것 같습니다. How are you? It seems you have many pent-up pains you want to tell us. 그렇습니다. 충성으로 대표되는 저희들마저 인간에게 원망을 하고 있다면 이것은 참으로 큰일인 것입니다. 이것이 바로 현재 인간들의 인간성 상실과 물질문명으로 인해 함께 공존해야 하는 모든 동식물과 완전한 분리를 단적으로 보여주는 것입니다. 이것이 바로 인간의 삶의 방향이 잘못 되었다는 뜻이기도 합니다. 저희들의 고통도 중요하지만 지구 전체가 돌이킬 수 없는 상태로 갈 수 있음을 명심해 주십시오. That is right. If as the representatives of loyalty, even we hold grudges against humans, it must truly be a serious issue. This is a direct illustration of the complete separation from all animals and plants, which should be coexisting together, due to the present material civilization and loss of human humanity. This is exactly a mean that the direction of human live is wrong. Originally humans were the beings who knew the will of Heaven, but now they cannot. They won’t realize or accept the urgency of their reality in front of them even if they have several times greater shocks than the present problems. That can be because of their ignorance and also self-conceit. Human have used their high-level consciousness ability that was given them in the wrong direction. They were forced to experience many agonies in history in order to get awakened to this, but that rather resulted in the growth of their mistaken tolerance. In the end they have become infected with super-viruses, which have no cure no matter the antibiotic, and which can only be killed when the host, that is one’s self, is killed. 그러나 눈에 보이는 세계에 온통 정신이 쏠려 있는 인간에게 이러한 것을 알리는 것이 어려운 것은 당연한 것입니다. 인간은 자신이 죽음을 맞이하는 순간까지도 현실을 인정하지 않을 것입니다. 무지한 것입니다. But it’s difficult to tell this kind of stuff to the humans whose mind is leaning towards only the visible world. Human don’t accept their reality until the moment they face death. That is ignorance. 앞으로의 십 년은 과거의 만년을 의미합니다. 백 년을 예측하는 인간은 앞으로 십만 년 동안 아무런 재앙이 오지 않는다고 믿는 것과 같은 것입니다. 아마 그랬으면 싶을 것입니다. 과거 만년을 통해 물질문명이 발달했다면 앞으로의 십 년은 정신문명의 대 변혁기가 될 것입니다. 단 인류가 존재한다는 조건하에서 말입니다. The next 10 years corresponed to 10,000 years of the past. You cry out when you have to go only 30 minutes by subway. But we, not only all day long, but throughout our lives, eat rationed feed and defecate and urinate in our tiny spaces, just gazing blankly at each other. We cannot help but get sick. We have heartburn and have no emotions already. There is no passage of time in our mind, so we have been insensible, simply like scarecrows. 사람들은 저희들에게 소독약을 뿌리고 항생제로 방역을 한다고 하지만 그것은 오히려 우리의 피를 말려서 우리도 함께 죽여 가는 것입니다. 우리의 몸에 독소로 남아있게 되는 것이죠. 어쩌면 그것이 그 독소를 먹는 인간들에게 보복할 수 있는 유일한 수단일지도 모릅니다. Humans try to spray disinfectant on us and take preventive measures with antibiotics. But far from it, it is only taking our lives by tormenting us. Toxins are accumulated in our bodies. Perhaps that is the only way to have our revenge on humans who will eat those toxins. 광우병은 어찌 생각하시는지요? Humans put the ground corpses of my fellows into the feed. We ate it without knowing it but our bodies noticed it. Imagine if you ate human meat? Moreover, we had no option but to eat it because we were imprisoned and it was the only food given. Imagine that despair. We couldn’t have endured that sense of loss if we had not had dementia. 우리 소들은 육식을 하면 안 되는 것으로 창조가 되었습니다. 다시 말하면 우리 소들의 먹이가 인간들의 음식을 뺏어먹게 창조되지가 않았다는 것입니다. 그런 우리에게 비육을 목적으로 인간들의 먹잇감인 옥수수나 곡식 등을 우리에게 주어서 식량난을 자초하고 있는 것이죠. We cows were not created to eat meat. In other words, we were not created to be fed with human food.   들어가기 전에 Before entering 이세상의 모든 것들은 살아있는 생명체라고 합니다. 우리는 삶에 너무 바빠 우리 인간을 제외한 다른 것들의 목소리를 듣지 못하지만 우리는 그들도 그들의 목소리가 있음을 알고 있습니다. 물론 그들은 말로 하질 않습니다. 같이 살아가고 있는 우리가 귀를 기울어야죠. All things in this world are living beings. We can’t hear any other voices other than human because we are too busy for our living, however we know that they have their own voices. Of course they won’t talk with our languages. That is by the waves. When your wave becomes low in silence, you can hear the voice of nature. And we are astonished by their stories. Listen to the story of a man who meditates. ~ 하루는 소가 나에게 말을 걸어왔습니다. “우리는 당신들의 먹잇감으로 만 창조가 되었나요? 함께 일하고 함께 웃고 한 처마 밑에서 동고동락했던 저희들은 지금 인간들을 원망하고 있습니다.” One day a cow started talking to me. “Were we created only to be eaten for you? We cows who used to work, laugh and share joys and sorrows together with you under the same sky have a lot of grudges against humans.” 명상 중 경고와 원망의 위급한 목소리가 흘러가면서 나는 깨어났습니다. 그리고 제가 들은 것에 대해서 한참 생각했습니다. 정말 소였을까? 저는 이것을 동료에게 말하고 인터넷을 뒤지고 비디오를 보면서 소들이 직면한 불행한 현실을 찾아보았습니다. I was awoken in meditation by that urgent voice passing along warnings and grudges. I thought for a while about what I had heard. Was that really a cow? I told this to my colleagues and looked through the internet and I watched a video on the miserable reality that cows face. 소는 도살을 위해 사육되고, 소는 그들이 먹히기 위해 태어난다는 것을 깨닫고 있습니다. 어마한 양의 옥수수가 그들의 식량이 되는 반면 한쪽에서는 식량이 모자라 많은 사람들이 죽어가고 있습니다. 나는 인간 때문에 직면해야 하는 모든 식물과 동물들의 참혹한 현실을 깨닫기 시작했습니다. Cows being raised for slaughter, cows realizing they are only born to be eaten, huge amounts of corn thrown away while numerous people die due to lack of food. I came to realize the cruel reality that all the plants and animals face due to humans. 나는 그 목소리에 진실이 담겨있음을 느낍니다. 우리는 깊은 명상 중에 식물과 동물과 대화가 가능하다는 것을 알게 되었으며 많은 지구의 식구들을 만날 수 있게 되었습니다. I felt that the voice had a feeling of truth to it. For us, we found the plants and animals that are possible to have a conversation with in deep meditation, and came to meet many of the Earth’s family members. 저는 이들의 소리를 정중하게 들을 수 있는 자와 함께 나누고자 합니다. 모든 지구가족들은 자연이 겪고 있는 이 아픔은 머지않아 같은 이치로 사람들에게 돌려질 것이라고 합니다. 또한 이런 말도 합니다. 만약 사람들이 자연과 함께 깨어날 수 있다면 아직은 희망이 있다 라고요. 그들은 사람들에게 배신을 당하면서도 모든 것을 주었습니다. 그리고 그들은 아직은 지구를 포기하지 않은 지구가족에게 고마움을 전하고 있군요. I’d like to share their voices with those who can listen courteously. All the Earth’s family members say that the pains that nature has experienced will return to humans in the same manner before long. Also, they wish to say this. Only if human beings and nature awaken together is there still hope. They have given everything to human beings and even though they feel betrayed, they would like to send gratitude to the Earth’s family members who have not given up on the Earth.
